ABC certification is the highest standard of excellence for professionals providing orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic patient care and technical services. What is an ABC Certified Fitter-orthotics?

An ABC Certified Fitter-orthotics (CFo) is a health care professional specifically educated and trained in the provision of certain orthoses. This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management. An ABC certified fitter-orthotics is competent to practice orthotics within a scope of practice that is specific to fitting certain custom fitted, prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses.

Scope of Practice
ABC’s Certified Fitter-orthotics Scope of Practice​​ details the specific functions of a certified orthotic fitter. This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management.

Additionally, the Certified Fitter-orthotics is required to support and conform to the Code of Professional Responsibility which promotes and assures the overall welfare of the patient and the integrity of the profession.

Credential
Once you have met the ABC requirements and passed the certification exam, you will be awarded the Certified Fitter-orthotics (CFo) credential.
